About the band…
The Keith
Gennerman Band exists to entertain dancers and music lovers of all ages
with a variety of music and styles. The band has performed for
dances, festivals, and parties both private and public throughout
southeast Wisconsin and the Midwest. Primarily a three piece
band, Keith can increase or decrease the size of the band and tailor
the music to suit the venue or occasion. Frequently, Keith and
the band are complimented on their vocals and harmonies, adding to the
overall music experience.
About
Keith…
Keith
started learning music and the accordion with lessons at the age of
seven through the Beaver Dam Music Center. Lessons continued for
the next five years until the business closed. The accordion then
went into the closet more or less for the next five years. At the
age of 14, Keith joined the grade school band program playing the
tuba. During his high school years, he joined the high school
jazz band playing electric bass guitar in addition to the tuba.
About 1982, the accordion came back out when Keith was “volunteered” by
a friend to join an 8-piece Dutchmen style polka band. For the
next ten years, Keith was fortunate to be exposed to various styles of
polka/waltz and dance music performing with the likes of Bill Chambers,
Uncle Ozzie, and others. In 1992, Keith had the opportunity to
assume the leadership of his own band, playing the Slovenian style that
was always in his heart. Through the years, Keith has performed
solo, strolling jobs as well as leading his own band. He has had
the fortune of performing with other larger bands, such as Jimmy
Hartwig, Shorty Shoemaker, and others, making many long standing
friendships with musicians and music lovers along the way. Keith
wishes to express his sincere thanks to his family and many friends for
their support and understanding of his music hobby.
“Polka music is happy
music for all occasions.”
