| Posting Rules & Guidelines: | |
| #1 Commercial advertising is prohibited. | |
| We impose
this rule
only to be fair to our sponsors -- they pay to advertise on this
website,
so we cannot allow others to advertise for free. We offer very affordable,
paid
advertising
opportunities for bands,
clubs,
dance organizers, tour groups, radio stations, and other business (both
for-profit and non-profit) to promote
themselves or their events on this website. |
|
|
Two exceptions:
1. Fundraisers and benefits may be freely advertised provided that 100% of the net proceeds goes directly to the beneficiary(s) and none of the bands/musicians is compensated for their performance. 2. Bands may advertise their newly-released CDs. |
|
| We understand that some unintentional advertising may happen within the course of a discussion, which is fine, but posts cannot specifically be written for the sake of advertising. This includes masked advertising, which is posting a message for the purpose of slipping in a discreet advertisement. | |
| If someone posts a request for
information about an upcoming event, please respond to the inquirer in
person via email. You may NOT publicly post information about the
event unless the event is a fundraiser/benefit as outlined above. |
|
| Important topics such as the formation of a new band or the closing of a dance hall are considered newsworthy and not advertising. | |
| #2 The content of your post should be worthy of discussion. | |
| Oversimplified comments (i.e. "I like polka music") may be deleted. | |
| #3 Do not post copyrighted information without proper credits. | |
| When posting information gathered from other sources (articles, obituaries, photos, etc.) at the very least, please cite your sources. If you obtained the information online, provide a link to the web page on which you found the information. | |
| #4 Vulgar language and verbal abuse will not be tolerated. | |
| This includes harsh language and comments that specifically target and debase another individual (excluding well-known and/or controversial celebrities). | |
| #5 Please look at the other subject lines to see if others are already discussing the topic you want to write about. | |
| Before you post a new message, please browse the subject lines of the other messages first. If the topic you want to discuss is already being discussed, post your message as a reply under that topic. This will help the message board from becoming unnecessarily cluttered. We reserve the right to relocate posts as we see fit. | |
| #6 Do not post personal/private information about anyone without their consent. | |
| Do not post anyone's phone number, home address, middle name, etc. in a message unless you have their permission to do so. (This only applies to information that is not already publicized.) We will remove posts that we feel may violate the privacy of another individual. | |
| #7 Debate maturely. | |
| Occasionally, hot topics arise in this forum. Keep the tone of your opinions civil. Posts specifically written to incite public rage will be deleted at our discretion. | |
| For advanced users: |
|
| #8 Keep linked graphics small for the benefit of those who have slow internet access. | |
| HTML coding is allowed in messages. If you embed graphics, please try to limit the total file sizes of the graphics to around 100kb/message. |
